Present Position Analysis

Most clients that come to us for guidance are doing so with an existing portfolio along with a host of past experiences that may be both positive and/or negative.  We believe the foundation of any good relationship is developing a deeper understanding of a client’s goals, objectives, investment experience, understanding of market risk, current investment strategy and costs.  In order to guide clients to make good decisions, we need to understand the whole picture (which includes both raw and emotional data).

The Present Position Analysis is a free comprehensive and exhaustive analysis of your current portfolio holdings.  Each position is analyzed based on their individual characteristics (asset class, style, return history, volatility, cost structure, management team, consistency, etc).  Then the positions are analyzed based on their fit into the existing or proposed strategy.  How does the position correlate with other positions, does it fit in the overall strategy, is it enhancing the overall risk/return characteristics of the portfolio?

It is our belief that two of the main factors impacting the long term success of any investment strategy are asset allocation and controlling costs. How you allocate your portfolio will determine over 90% of your risk/return experience. 1 Market timing and manager selection have a much smaller impact. Cost can have a dramatic impact on the NET results that an investor experiences. It is important to understand the various cost elements that can erode your overall return experience. Some costs that we will examine are current advisory fees, transaction costs, internal management fees, sales loads, surrender charges, other internal fees and estimated tax efficiency. While there is always a cost to investing and/or advice, we believe it is important to ensure they are reasonable and minimized when possible.

We use our extensive experience to help guide you in making the most informed decisions in reallocating your wealth in order to maximize its contribution to your long term goals.
